The Directors of Global Regulatory Services (GRS) attended the launch of the British Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy campaign: Antibiotic Action on Wednesday 9th November 2011.
The launch took place in the Terrace Pavilion of the House of Commons, London. It was well attended by numerous MPs, representatives from private industry, the NHS and academia. The speakers emphasized the urgency for developing new antibiotics pointing out that we are reaching crisis point whereby the lack of effective antibiotics will have a devastating effect on global health.
Key speakers included Kevin Barron, MP for Rother Valley, Professor Laura Piddock, University of Birmingham and Dr Hilary Jones, General Practitioner. A petition forms part of the campaign. The petition of over 5,000 signatures was delivered to 10 Downing Street.
