Sir Christopher Evans opened the One Nucleus Bench-to-Boardroom event on 6th March.  His popularity could be seen by the fact that it was 'standing room' only for those not quick enough to capture a seat.  He is often described as the ‘founding father’ of the Cambridge biotech cluster and it was clear that Cambridge remains a special place for him.

His speech was lively to say the least and highly motivational.  He invited questions at the end at which point he was asked to name a “rising star” company in Cambridge.  His answer was "Abcam: the most exciting company, the best business that I am not involved in is Abcam, a fantastic company it will go on to be worth billions. It is run by smart people and that is a business I would loved to have set up with them. I think they could grow that into a very, very big, a very profitable company. That is my number one business around here."

Unbeknown to Sir Christopher Evans, Adrian Kinkaid (Strategic Market Development Leader) of Abcam was sitting in the audience.  It didn't take him long to make himself known and ask if Sir Evans would like to invest!
