Genesis 2012: great day, great venue, great topics, great people and already looking forward to Genesis 2013!

5/12/2013

Genesis 2012 was a really 'full on' day not helped by the fact that I was woken up at 5am by someone deciding to have an early morning run on the treadmill next to my hotel room - thud, thud, thud!  After a rather rude awakening, the day could only get better and it did.

There was a real buzz in the air and despite the economy not being particularly buoyant, the mood was upbeat.  It was great to meet up with 'old' friends again and to make new contacts.  Two highlights of the day were:

  • the Alternative Therapies stream (hosted by Global Regulatory Services), and
  • the Scrip-One Nucleus Plenary Debate.

It was also great to learn about what's happening with natural product development - reality rather than theory - and with this session now a permanent feature of the annual Genesis conferences, it'll be interesting to see how this niche area of the life sciences develops.

I was delighted to be asked to join the Scrip-One Nucleus Plenary Debate at the end of the day.  It was 'industry' vs. 'enablers' and, representing Global Regulatory Services (GRS), I was most definitely on side of the 'enablers' which suited me down to the ground as I much prefer to be proactive than reactive!  I was able to point out that the UK is really good at research but not so good on development.  Anyway, I won't give the game away.  If you'd like to hear more, please view the video.
