UK CBD Pathway Clear As EU Decides
28/8/2020
CBD ingestibles in Europe is a very 'hot' topic at the moment. In January 2019, the European Commission announced that CBD was a novel food. The impact of this decision was that products already on the EU market became illegal ... overnight! Some Member States decided on full enforcement whereas others like the UK decided to take a more pragmatic approach. Companies have now spent millions conducting tests and compiling dossiers to submit to the European Commission for validation as per the Novel Food Regulation only to discover this Summer that the EU Commission has 'paused' all natural CBD novel food submissions because they are pondering whether or not CBD should actually be classified as a narcotic.
This interview offers some insights and opinion by Greer Deal and what CBD companies can do to make their voices heard with the EU Commission and also to maintain an income stream by focusing on the UK market whilst the EU Commission deliberates.
Thanks to David Ridley, HBW Insight of Informa Intelligence, for this opportunity to talk about such a critical timepoint for the EU CBD Industry.
